Jon Woody, CAPT, USPHS (Ret.), is President and Founder of Woody Food Strategies, LLC and a nationally recognized expert in food safety, food defense, and fraud prevention. He brings over 27 years of experience, including 24 years in senior leadership roles at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Early in his FDA career, Jon led retail food safety initiatives, supporting the Food Code and championing active managerial control strategies. He later directed the development and implementation of the FSMA Intentional Adulteration (IA) rule and provided executive leadership in implementing the FSMA 204 Food Traceability rule. He also served as Director of FDA’s Food Defense and Emergency Coordination Staff and later as Director of Preparedness and Emergency Programs.
A founding leader of the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance IA rule training courses, Jon serves as the head trainer-of-trainers and lead instructor for the Vulnerability Assessment course. He also trained FDA teams now conducting IA rule inspections.
Jon resides in Annapolis, Maryland. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his family, paddleboarding on Weems Creek, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
